The Air Jordan 1 as canvas.
The Air Jordan 1 is the silhouette sneaker culture is built around. Peter Moore designed it in 1985 for a rookie who would change the game, and the panel layout still reads like a deliberate canvas — the toe, the wing, the swoosh, the collar all sit as distinct fields an artist can compose across. The leather is heavier than the AF1, takes Angelus pigment beautifully, and lets us run a single composition from heel to toe. Hero portraits, livery work and lyric panels all hit harder on the AJ1 — there's simply more shoe to paint.

- Yes. We start with authentic Air Jordan 1 base shoes — sourced through the studio — then hand-paint the artwork freehand in Angelus leather paints. The shoe is real Jordan; the artwork is ours, and 1-of-1.
- Can you paint a portrait or character across the wing and swoosh?
- Yes — the AJ1's panel layout is built for it. We often run a single composition from the heel through the wing into the swoosh so the pair reads as one piece when stood side-by-side. Send a clean reference for the best result.
- Does the Angelus paint hold on AJ1 leather over time?
- Yes. AJ1 leather is heavier than AF1 leather and takes layered Angelus paint cleanly. Properly primed and sealed, the artwork flexes with the shoe and holds through years of regular wear.
- How long does a hand-painted AJ1 commission take?
